Termite and Pest Inspections: What Homeowners Should Know
By TradieCorner Team · · 1 min read

Termites are a real concern across much of Australia, and the damage often happens out of sight. Regular inspections are one of the simplest ways to catch problems early.
When to book an inspection
- Before buying a property — a pre-purchase timber pest inspection
- On a regular schedule for your own home, as your inspector recommends
- If you spot signs of activity
- After major renovations or landscaping that change the ground around your home
Signs to watch for
- Mud tunnels or tracks on walls, piers or foundations
- Timber that sounds hollow when tapped
- Doors or windows that suddenly stick
- Bubbling or cracking paint on timber
- Swarms of winged insects, especially on warm, humid evenings
What an inspection covers
A timber pest inspector checks accessible areas inside and outside, the roof space and subfloor where reachable, and the garden around the home. You should receive a written report explaining what was found, what areas couldn't be accessed and any recommendations.
Reduce the risk around your home
- Keep garden beds and mulch away from the walls
- Fix leaking taps, pipes and air conditioner drains
- Store timber and building materials off the ground and away from the house
- Keep subfloor vents clear
