$25,000 Pool Resurfacing Project Resulted in Multiple Issues Approximately five years ago, I contracted Anthony & Silvan to recoat and resurface my swimming pool at a cost of approximately $25,000. Because the pool had originally been installed by their predecessor company more than 45 years ago, I felt confident that they had the experience and expertise to complete the project properly. Shortly after the resurfacing was completed, the pool lighting system began malfunctioning. When I contacted Anthony & Silvan, I was informed that the issue was not related to their work and therefore not their responsibility. As a result, I hired an electrician and incurred approximately $2,000 in additional repair costs. Several years later, defects began appearing in the resurfaced pool floor. Numerous blisters formed on the bottom surface, and when stepped on, they would rupture and release pieces of cement and coating material into the pool. I reported the issue to Anthony & Silvan, but was advised that the warranty period had expired. Most recently, after this past winter, several large cracks developed in the pool surface. These cracks have been accompanied by staining and discoloration, significantly affecting the appearance of the pool. I have again contacted Anthony & Silvan regarding these issues and am awaiting their response but not holding my breath (pun intended). Based on my experience, a $25,000 resurfacing project should not result in lighting issues, surface blistering, cracking, and staining within a five-year period. Prospective customers should carefully evaluate warranty coverage, expected service life, and post-installation support before proceeding with a similar project.

There's a reason that Anthony and Sylvan has been around for so long. They built my pool back in 2003, and we have been delighted with the design, the superior construction, and the quality of all the components. They have a retail store at this location, which stocks everything that you might need. They carry excellent quality chemicals, and have a very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend.

UPDATE: After posting this review, I heard from my salesperson and subsequently received a call from the regional sales manager. We had a productive discussion about what transpired and I am open to the possibility of working together. I appreciate the prompt follow-up from both of them and the transparency regarding the previous communication gap. I have since received the estimate and am currently reviewing the details for the pool renovation. It’s encouraging to see the company take accountability and prioritize getting things back on track. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'll keep this short. Sylvan stopped by when my pool was closed. I wanted to redo my concrete patio. Salesman stops by says he'll have a quote to me in a week. 3 weeks later no quote. I open my pool and find tiles have fallen off and I have hollow sounds under the coping. I definitely need a coping, plaster, and tile job and possibly repairs/redo to the bonding beam - this along with a concrete patio. This has now turned into an expensive job. I call Sylvan again. Make an appointment and the salesman is a no-show. I get no message or anything from Sylvan. I'll add to this that Sylvan built my pool years ago. Needless to say, if this is how they are before I pay them for a pool renovation then I'd assume they will be a nightmare when they have my money for the renovation. Well, I'll look elsewhere. I can take a hint.

The worst company. I don't recommend. The sales person took a deposit in September $5000 for 100k pool and promised to erect the pool in the following spring, then in June for some reason postponed the construction. When asked to return the deposit they have refused. The management is awful. Stay away!

In December of 2019, my husband and I made the decision to install an in ground pool. We chose Anthony & Sylvan Pools because of their outstanding reputation. The initial stages of the project however, did not go smoothly. Our salesperson either left or was fired and our original project manager resigned. We were stalled. Fortunately, once Bob Hoke was assigned as our project manager things changed. He maintained frequent contact and kept the balance of the construction on schedule. He communicated with our landscape contractor so that nothing was delayed. Bob worked hard to ensure that we had a useable pool for our summer of quarantine. He continues to check in periodically to make sure that all is working well. I can recommend Anthony & Sylvan Pools based on my experience with Bob Hoke.
