Barrette Outdoor Living

We used their decking for our front porch and steps, which they have now acknowledged was defective and has since been discontinued. The outer laminate is peeling, not a good look. Now we have to have it replaced and they are only offering us a fraction of the initial cost of the materials and they refuse to take responsibility and pay for the cost to replace it. They claim it's beyond the timing listed in their warranty to cover labor, which was on a sheet of paper that I never saw. Also, I'm not sure just because you write it down on a piece of paper, it means it's valid? Why not claim they now own my house and car while they're at it? I never signed the warranty...Meanwhile, the builder is offering to do the work at cost because they feel bad they recommended the product. This company doesn't care about their customers. The responses I have received are totally unsympathetic and lack logic. So now I have to pay a large amount out of pocket to remove their material and replace it with something superior. I'm not mad the product didn't live up to expectations. Things happen. But their lackluster response is worthy of a 1 star and warning: Don't buy from this company...

Am professional trim carpenter. Installed almost every type of exterior railing. This companies product is garbage and can not even be used for a long stair rail with the railing staying in plane. Source from someone else.

Absolutely horrible, do not waste your money. We wanted to buy Canadian but unfortunately, this company isn't the way to do that. We bought the 2 x 4 privacy screen and slats, and the product is cheap and unusable. If the company cannot be bothered to pre-drill the pilot holes, that should tell you all you need to know. The drill bit they provided for drilling said pilot holes actually broke after making 1 1/2 of the many required holes. Our own drill bit nearly suffered the same fate. Cheap garbage, will be returning to Rona for a refund. Avoid at all costs.

Ordered some deck railing from them through Home Depot and they completely left out a piece of the order. Had to basically go into full investigation mode with home depot who verified the weight of the box through FedEx was short around the exact same weight as the missing piece. Then on top of that the rail I ordered was missing pieces in the kit. And you can’t just get the pieces you need the whole kit. So again, I’m working with Home Depot to get this resolved. Never using anything from Barrette again.

Ordered 240 ft of vinyl privacy fence from this company through home depot. I have now went back to Home Depot 4 times to replace broken, cracked, and twisted vinyl pieces. All the boxes they were shipped in were undamaged, telling me they were packaged with damage and shipped that way. All this after the shipping company used a box truck with a lift gate to deliver. After loading realized they could not off load because pallet was too big for lift gate. Ended up delivering to Home Depot and I had to pick it up. Never again will I buy any Barrette products.
