So many incorrect payrolls ran over the years with them. The only ive stuck around is to get an IRS issue resolved that they caused by failing to pay payroll tax. Been ongoing over 2 years! Cant wait to switch once that issue is resolved. Now, I will say though.. they hire almost strictly hot employees and ive enjoyed the intimate relations most of them have offered me in apology for things

Extremely unprofessional customer service. Not just individual employees, but the business’s directives are very dangerous to your personal financial security. If you are an employer considering paychex, look elsewhere for the sake of your employees. Paychex customer service will call and ask you to give sensitive information over the phone with no security and will never explain themselves. It is impossible to ever speak to someone directly at the Rochester location, you will always end up in a loop with third party customer service run by people who will mislead, misdirect and try to coerce you. I fear for what may happen to my 401k in the hands of this company.

Horrible customer service. This is the second time in two months our payroll has not been processed even though we received an email four days ago saying it had been processed. We never know if our employees will be paid until payday. This should be the number 1 priority of Paychex instead of trying to sell us other products we do not need. No manager ever calls us back. Not sure what happened to this company. We have been a client since 2015. Now we will have to find another company that can actually process a payroll. Also they have trouble with payroll taxes. Check your account very carefully. Still trying to get a resolution from them from 2 and 3 years ago but again, no one calls us back and there is no way to reach a decision maker. Be very careful if you choose to do business with this company.

Worst customer service. My company has used Paychex for many years. The last two have been bad. The last six months has been horrible. They make mistakes and have the nerve to charge me to fix their mistakes. It took them three times to fix an employees W-2 and charged me $500 to fix their mistakes. I’m am switching services at the end the first quarter.

Our company has used Paychex Payroll Services for roughly 20 years after a brief stint switching to ADP and then back to Paychex. Over the past year, the customer service has tanked. I am currently very frustrated with the unresponsiveness of payroll reps and their "managers". At this time, I am convinced that the reps they assign to my accounts are not actual people. I rarely or never receive a returned phone call or email with my pending and stacking issues. We currently have five client numbers with Paychex, all with multiple errors on each account. I am currently at a loss as to what to do at this point. I have started to research the Executive team at the Rochester, NY headquarters. I am also working on contacting the current CEO, John Gibson. The poor service has accelerated since June of 2025. The amount of time I spend on dealing with the incompetence of this company and their employees is unacceptable. At this point, I do not recommend using Paychex for your payroll and HR services.
