Huka Lodge, set along the stunning Waikato River just upstream from the powerful Huka Falls, is truly one of New Zealand’s finest luxury resorts. The private cottages are warm, elegant, and incredibly inviting, creating a perfect sense of comfort and seclusion. What really sets the experience apart is the staff—they make a genuine effort to know you personally and anticipate your every need. The dining is exceptional, with beautifully presented dishes that rival top-tier, Michelin-caliber restaurants. We’ve had the pleasure of staying at Cape Kidnappers, Hapuku Lodge, and Blanket Bay—all outstanding in their own right—but Huka Lodge stands out as our favorite.

An absolute gem of a luxury lodge! The hotel is situated in the most beautiful of locations. But it is the staff and sheer quality of everything that is on offer that really makes this a must stay! The rooms are spectacular with lovely touches everywhere including a restocked minibar everyday (with wines) and amazing bathroom amenities. You can sit for hours just staring out the doors to the river. The staff really make this place and every single one of them goes out of their way to ensure you have an amazing stay! The food at dinner is breathtaking! This chef is a star and the set dinner menus are absolutely gorgeous (with matching wines) .........and you will not go hungry! I cannot recommend Huka Lodge highly enough and my husband and I are already planning our return trip.

From the moment we were greeted on arrival to when we checked out two days later we had a remarkably great experience at Huka Lodge. All of the staff were so friendly and very competent, the food was really good, the ambiance of the place amazing and the accommodation and gardens first class and just right for the environment in which it is situated. The manager and guest relations also went way beyond expectations to help us out of a predicament. We had left some clothes for a wedding we were to attend at our previous night’s accommodation and they arranged for its collection and returned it to our room effectively overnight. It saved us a four hour return journey. Thanks so much to the whole team for a wonderful stay.

Unbelievable! Amazing place! Wish we were staying longer. Beautiful, serene, peaceful location. The rooms are so spacious and feel like home. Food is so delicious and all natural and healthy. And every single person who work here are absolutely amazing! Everyone is so kind, always remember you by your name, always smile and very polite. Would definitely come back here and stay longer. Amazing place❤️

Huka Lodge was the absolute stand out from our short trip through the North Island, and one we will never forget. From the moment of arriving, the service was second to none, curated to perfection. Everything was taken care of and you wanted for nothing. From the immaculately manicured grounds, break taking views and wildlife, to the stunning decor of the rooms and lodge are something to behold. The culinary experience was exquisite, delicious local ingredients with superb wine pairings. We even had a little surprise and were able to dine privately in the wine cellar, with its fire lit entrance, adorned with beautiful artwork, ceiling heaters and our own sound system to enjoy the night with. A world class luxury retreat, modernised without losing that special 'hunters lodge' remote wilderness vibe.
