End-of-Lease Cleaning: A Room-by-Room Checklist
By TradieCorner Team · · 1 min read

At the end of a tenancy, the property generally needs to be returned in a condition that matches the entry report, allowing for fair wear and tear. A thorough clean is a big part of that. Whether you do it yourself or hire cleaners, this checklist shows what's typically involved.
Kitchen
- Oven, grill, racks and rangehood filters
- Cooktop and splashback
- Inside and outside cupboards and drawers
- Sink, taps and benchtops
- Dishwasher filter and seals
Bathrooms and laundry
- Shower screens, tiles and grout
- Toilet, including behind and around the base
- Vanity, mirrors and cabinets
- Exhaust fans and light fittings
- Laundry tub, cupboards and behind the machines
Throughout the home
- Walls spot-cleaned for marks
- Skirting boards, door frames and light switches
- Windows, tracks and sills
- Wardrobes, shelves and built-ins
- Floors — vacuumed and mopped, and carpets cleaned if your lease requires it
Booking a professional clean
Book early — the end of the month is busy. Ask exactly what's included, whether carpet cleaning is part of the package, and whether the cleaner will come back if the property manager raises an issue. Get the inclusions in writing.
