I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Bunnings Hawthorn today. When it was my turn at the checkout, the young blonde cashier displayed a noticeably unfriendly, impatient, and dismissive attitude. As a customer who was simply making a purchase, I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable throughout the interaction. What I found particularly offensive was the way my change was returned. Rather than handing the coins to me respectfully, she tossed them onto the counter. This behaviour felt disrespectful, unprofessional, and demeaning. Every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect. While I cannot know the reason for her behaviour, the interaction left me feeling unfairly treated and gave me the impression that I was not being afforded the same level of respect as other customers. I hope management takes this matter seriously and provides additional customer service training to its staff. No customer should leave feeling disrespected, offended, or unwelcome. This experience was deeply disappointing and fell far below the standard I would expect from Bunnings.

Bunnings is a great place to shop for tools, gardening supplies, building materials, and things for around the home. 🔨 There’s a huge range of products, and the prices are generally reasonable. The staff are usually friendly and helpful when you need help finding something. The store can get quite busy, especially on weekends, and sometimes it takes a while to find what you’re looking for because of how large the store is. Overall, it’s a reliable and convenient place for home projects and everyday supplies. 👍

I am extremely disappointed with the level of customer service at Bunnings. It has become shockingly unprofessional. We purchased a Ryobi hammer drill, but the drill itself was missing the product identification label that contains the serial number and manufacturing date. This label is essentially the machine’s ID. Without it, making warranty claims, arranging repairs, or even reselling the tool in the future becomes extremely difficult. We went to the store to exchange it. The first time, we told the staff we would come back later to collect the replacement because we had other commitments. However, when we returned, nobody bothered to double-check the exchange. We got home only to discover they had simply handed us back our original drill—the exact same one with the missing label. This meant we had to make a second trip to the store. During the second visit, the staff questioned us and insisted that if both drills didn’t have the label, then perhaps the product simply wasn’t supposed to have one. This was a shocking response. Either they were deliberately trying to avoid replacing the item, or they were so poorly trained that they didn’t understand something as basic as a product identification label. We had to repeatedly insist before the staff finally opened another brand-new unit. Unsurprisingly, that drill DID have the label, and only then did they agree to replace ours. To make matters worse, after checking out and heading towards the elevator, we politely asked another staff member whether the trolley should be left on that floor. She rolled her eyes and replied, “SURE!” in an obviously rude and dismissive tone. I genuinely don’t understand what has happened to Bunnings’ customer service. We weren’t asking for special treatment—we simply expected a correct product, a proper exchange process, and basic courtesy. Instead, we experienced incompetence, unnecessary inconvenience, and disrespect from multiple staff members. This was one of the worst retail experiences I’ve had, and I sincerely hope Bunnings takes customer service standards more seriously.

There is parking available, and there are many plants for sale in the outdoor area.

The staff were absolutely amazing. From helping me to find the product I needed to helping me lift it onto the trolley, to actually walking down to my car with me and loading up my car. I dealt with 5 different team members and everyone of them were friendly, smiling and ever so helpfull.
